The Effect of Coconut Water Application with Different Concentration on Growth Masculinization and Survival Rate of Platy Pedang (Xiphophorus helleri)

Abstract


This study aimed to examine the effect of coconut water Application with Different Concentration on Growth Masculinization and Survival Rate of  Platy Pedang (Xiphophorus helleri for masculinization of Betta splendens. This research used completely randomized design with four treatments that were distinguished by concrentation of coconut water, which were 10 ppm/L (P1), 20 ppm/L (P2), 30 ppm/L (P3), and 40 ppm/L (P4). The treatments were given by immersion to 40 embryos/L at eye spots phase or about 2-day after fertilization. The immersion process was done for 8 hours. The results showed that different concentration of coconut water had significant effect on male percentage of platy fish seed. However, different concentration of coconut water did not significantly effect on survival rate of platy fih seed. Highest male percentage was obtained in treatment of P3  (76,2 %, male) and lowest male  percentage was obtained in treatment of  P4 (45,1 %). Highest  survival rate was obtained in treatment of  P3  (65,8%) and lowest survival was obtained in treatment of  P4 (60,1 %).
